It is only 100 meters from the street entrance and the concrete stairs that lead into the gorge are easily accessible. However, as soon as you get closer to the bottom, you have to navigate the last 20 m down some very slippery rocks into the river. There is a steel balustrade, but it is not recommended unless you are sure-footed and extra careful.
To get a decent photo, you have to climb into the flat but very cloudy river bed and walk 20m until you are right under the waterfall. There is a small group of local guides ready to either help you descend or take your camera with you and take photos of the waterfalls for you.
Expect to pay between IDR50-100k for support, and if you’re not sure but want to try, I recommend using a guide for help. It’s a small fee and could help avoid a nasty fall on the slippery rocks.
